Dr. Andrew Blackwell, D.M.D.
Woodbury, CT Dentist
Dr. Blackwell moved to Southbury in 2015 after graduating from the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and placing into a residency position at Danbury Hospital. Originally from Central New Jersey, Dr. Blackwell completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, he was also a part of the Naval ROTC program and was commissioned into the Navy as an Ensign upon graduation.
During his 6 years of active duty, he completed two deployments to the Arabian Gulf, visited 14 countries and was homeported in both Pearl Harbor, HI and Norfolk, VA. Dr. Blackwell became interested in Dentistry after leaving the Navy and looking for a new challenge, enrolling in Dental School at 31. After residency, he worked in Meriden, CT for 18 months before taking over the practice of Dr. Lance Banwell, later merging the practice with Drs. Marshall and LaRosa.
Dr. Blackwell is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy for General Dentistry, and is actively continuing advanced Dental Education at the Spear Academy, the Kois Center for Dental Excellence, the Oral Bioesthetics Institute, and several local study groups. He also currently serves as a dentist in the Air National Guard of Massachussetts. In his time away from the practice, Dr. Blackwell enjoys playing hockey, playing electric and acoustic guitar, restoring his 1966 Mustang Fastback, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters (not necessarily in that order).
